Javed Fiyaz is a young entrepreneur involved primarily, but not exclusively, in the dynamic world of trans-national shipping. Mr. Fiyaz has interests in many private and public companies in Europe and the US, he has also made recent investments in emerging markets such as China and India. Born in Pakistan, Mr. Fiyaz grew up in France and the UK; but continues to maintain strong ties to his birth-country, engaging in extensive philanthropic work aimed at improving the lives of the less fortunate in Pakistan and other developing countries.
Currently, Mr. Fiyaz’s main business interests are in trans-national shipping. With the recent economic expansion in both India and China, the demand for vessels capable of trans-national shipping has increased dramatically. Along with this increased demand has naturally come a drastic increase in freight rates. Recognizing these opportunities, Mr. Fiyaz has invested heavily in a shipping company and has built an important fleet of vessels, which include the Handymax, Panamax, and Cape. These ships transport commodities such as wheat, rice, coal, iron, and steel and deal with some of the major players in the industry. Mr. Fiyaz believes this company is ideally poised to take advantage of the opportunities not only in China and India, but in other Asian and African countries as well.
Though proud of his many business achievements, his interests are not limited to commercial activities. He is also guided by the belief that those who have found good fortune have a duty to help those in need. The recent earthquake in Pakistan, and the humanitarian crisis it created, has made this fact more pressing than ever. In response to this emergency, Mr. Fiyaz has established the Javed Fiyaz Charitable Trust, which is primarily aimed at easing the plight of those affected by the catastrophe. Recent work of the Trust has included: the provision of a girl’s school, capable of withstanding an earthquake of magnitude 9.8, on the border between Pakistan and India, the construction of a new University capable of educating 3000 students in the Muzaffarabad district and a new hospital boasting the latest medical technology in the Balakote district of Pakistan. Mr. Fiyaz plans to continue his work in Pakistan and developing countries, in the hope that a new day is dawning for the less fortunate people of the world.
In addition to his many business and philanthropic endeavours, Mr. Fiyaz and his brother Alshair own the F Team polo club, which has enjoyed recent success including a victory at the Megeve Polo Masters Cup in Switzerland. A music enthusiast, he also enjoys golf, skiing, swimming, tennis and travelling when the opportunity arises.
